HBO is seeking a Marketing Data Analyst to join their Consumer Marketing team. Responsible for ensuring a high state of data readiness and execution of HBO’s data-driven marketing campaigns, this role will be the critical bridge between our marketing strategy and the enabling data and technology needed to execute against it.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the continuous flow of data and quality of data into the marketing technology ecosystem. The candidate will be responsible for gathering marketing requirements, help translate and implement technical requirements and test the end product.

  • Ensure timely data supply to support marketing campaign execution across marketing channels, including email, mobile messaging, and paid media.
  • Build and maintain operational readiness of the data driven pipeline for marketing across data collection, organization, reporting and analysis, and marketing activation.
    • Data Collection and Testing
      • Represent marketing requirements across all data collection points, including in-app, on-site, media, and customer service.
      • Dig into complex data issues and perform user acceptance testing on the delivery of data projects.
    • Organization
      • Partner with data engineering teams to ensure operational readiness and ongoing evolution of marketing analytics environment.
      • Identify and represent data validation requirements and address data quality issues as they arise.
      • Map out and translate technical migration plans for large-scale initiatives that will largely impact advertising and communications to our consumers.
    • Activation
      • Ensure data readiness of customer interaction channels; including in-app, on-site, paid media, email, mobile messaging, and more.
      • Build and define customer data points and triggers to support campaign activation.
  • Represent marketing interests in all technical forums, interfacing between business and technical teams.
    • Facilitate the definition of the data architecture from a marketing perspective including:
      • Partner with internal data delivery teams and constituents, including HBO’s technology and analytics teams.
      • Work with external partners and agencies across paid media, mobile apps, microsites and other channels.
    • Define data delivery end points for both internal and external partners

  • Worked and is highly effective in an agile environment
  • SQL expert
  • Familiar with data warehouses, like AWS and Snowflake
  • Familiar with marketing technology tools such as Braze, Google, Neustar, etc.
  • Ability to effectively communicate to, and document requirements for marketers, analysts, and engineers. You strive to make complex systemic solutions easy to understand.
  • Ability to scope project timelines with technical stakeholders
  • Ability to model efficient data systems, structures, and processes that help the marketing team activate on and analyze big data
  • Ability to translate the impact of technical quirks and issues to marketers and analysts
  • Plus - Python or R
  • Deep understanding of the end-to-end data supply chain.
  • Bachelor’s degree, Masters level degree well regarded
  • Exceptionally strong analytical skills
  • Solid project management and organizations skills
