The ability to generate insights with impact is directly related to the quality of the research plan and efforts to ensure a smooth and successful study experience. The Associate UX Researcher plays a role in every aspect of research planning and execution, from working with partner vendors on recruiting to assist with data collection and reporting. We are looking for problem-solvers, connectors, and explorers who constantly pursue better, smarter, and faster ways to bring delight and value to our customers. The Associate UX Researcher will perform a wide range of tasks including, but not limited to the following activities.

As a Associate UX Researcher for HBO Max, you will plan, coordinate, and manage the various activities and logistics that enable the teams to conduct user research and share insights. Depending on experience, you may also collaborate with research teams on select projects to improve our UX design process and customer experience.


  • Coordinate or assist with various aspects of user research including, scheduling study dates, securing study locations, generating research materials, assisting with recruiting efforts, equipment setup, and observer care.

  • Assist with online studies from planning to execution, data analysis, and team communication.

  • Identify new research tools and partners. Work with WarnerMedia contracts, legal, and other teams to create, process, and track SOWs for vendor engagements.

  • Develop and maintain personas and participant recruiting processes.

  • Run the UX research lab. Assist with scheduling study dates and ensuring lab equipment is current and in good working condition.

  • Make research available to working teams through a centralized resource.

  • Contribute to activities aimed at building the team and UX Research practice.


  • Bachelor’s degree with a concentration in Engineering Human Factors, Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology, Computer Science, Cognitive Science, or a closely related research field.

  • Typically, is entry level in a Research role with 0-2 years of work experience in a related role, industry or field.

  • Experience initiating, coordinating, and tracking vendor engagements.

  • Able to identify process improvements that have a positive impact on the organization.

  • Familiarity with UX Research goals, processes, and methods.

  • Technical proficiency with consumer display devices (Smart TV, phone, tablet).

  • Curious mind, quick learner, anticipates needs, bias for action, and attention to detail.

  • Excellent organization and communication skills.


  • Experience working on consumer product teams.

  • Assisting or leading research.
