JOB SUMMARY

WarnerMedia is looking for a Senior Technical Program Manager to drive the development of the client and service framework used to build the HBO Max streaming service. This position is an engineering- and technically-focused role requiring experience shipping across multiple products and device platforms using a variety of engineering and process methodologies.

The ideal candidate will know the paths, challenges, and mitigations for shipping software and be passionate about using, modeling, and teaching that process to their team and colleagues to increase organizational productivity. As a Senior Program Manager, you will know how to make rational and thoughtful trade-offs required to deliver a product while maintaining a healthy team and healthy business relationships.

The successful candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams of engineers, business managers, and WarnerMedia's leadership team. You will embrace our engineering-focused culture and development philosophy by actively involving and engaging the entire team. Our self-organizing teams need a Technical Program Manager who remains focused on delivering to the right goals and executing in a way that is consistent with the team’s development methodology. To this end, the successful candidate must possess strong negotiation and cross-functional communication skills.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage cross-functional communication across multiple development teams and dependent groups.

  • Author data-driven proposals, recommendations, and solutions centered around problem statements and requirements; then drive alignment across all stakeholders.

  • Provide knowledgeable feedback in technical discussions about solution design and implementation.

  • Discover and articulate technical requirements and dependencies on both internal and external development teams as deliverables change. These could include changes to APIs, interfaces, or the behavior of services or client devices.

  • Define, develop, and document project scope, detailed project plans, and requirements for engineering, operational, and business stakeholders.

  • Establish schedule, goals, and milestones that align with cross-functional team dependencies.

  • Extract and document implementation details in collaboration with cross-functional team and identify roadblocks before they occur.

  • Communicate solution goal alignment including how solutions fit into, are influenced by, and generate larger divisional goals, and how the team's work impacts the success or failure of the division.

REQUIREMENTS

  • 5-7+ years of experience on multiple technical projects.

  • Experience with platform engineering teams, including selection, development, adoption, and conversion to client frameworks, capability libraries, CI/CD service pipelines, and platform services.

  • Experience with work issue tracking systems like Jira, YouTrack, and/or Visual Studio Teams.

  • Experience authoring features and specifications used for planning, review, and implementation.

  • Experience documenting existing technical systems and training users in complex functional, operational, and managerial procedures.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication with all levels of technical and non-technical staff.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills including diplomacy, negotiation, and problem resolution.

  • Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills.

  • Strong understanding of software development methodologies including waterfall and agile (including Lean and/or Scaled Agile Framework).

  • Able to function effectively in ambiguity with frequently changing and sometimes conflicting goals.

  • Ability to learn new development and productivity tools in order to continuously improve effectiveness.

  • Bachelor's Degree or similar advanced degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related experience preferred.

  • Media, entertainment, and/or games industry experience is a plus.
