The Job
The Director, Product Management for Search will lead a cross-functional team of designers, content strategists, marketers, and technologists to innovate the way TV and movie fans consume video content.


The Daily

Data-driven Decisions

  • Pull disparate data sets from all corners of the WarnerMedia enterprise and derive insights to help focus the team on initiatives with high potential for value.

  • Understand how to derive insight from usage data, click-stream pathing, and other raw metrics and tell a story about a user’s happy path, find opportunities to improve flows that increase engagement, and introduce features to solve discovery challenges.

  • Work with content metadata and user profile data to optimize the result set when a specific user performs a search query on the platform

  • Proactively monitor successful and failed searches to understand what trends may be emerging, and deliver actionable insights to content, editorial, support, engineering, and product

  • Establish KPIs and OKRs to help stakeholders understand the impact of the product on users and value delivered to the business.

  • Consult with analytics teams to properly tag all new features and ensure development epics are properly instrumented to quantitatively measure success.

Market Expertise: On-site Search

  • Understand market trends and usage patterns around search, including disambiguation, typeahead / search suggestion, faceted search presentation, and scoring search results

  • Knowledgeable about personalized search, and tailoring results to the behaviors and preferences of an individual

  • Propose additional metadata that can improve search algorithms

  • Use a deep understanding of the OTT, media, and video industry to help solve pain points and identify opportunities to delight TV and movie fans.

  • Evangelize new trends in search and discovery

Strategic Thinking

  • Use critical thinking, strategy, and a consumer-driven lens to address market opportunities with creative solutions
  • Build upon the strength of WarnerMedia’s diverse brands and competencies to leverage our competitive advantages in content creation, curation, and distribution.

Cross-functional Enablement

  • Partner with research teams to create in-depth personas, user journeys, and define opportunities to enhance the way content is displayed in search
  • Prioritize features and functionality in a well-groomed roadmap and work with Technical Program Managers and Engineers to execute on shipping incremental value with


The Essentials

  • 7+ years’ experience in managing or leading digital product initiatives or related experience at an entertainment media company

  • Strong product management background is essential

  • Extensive experience in video delivered products on tablets, phones, PCs, and other devices

  • Experience in an agile development process (Scrum, Kanban) strongly preferred

  • Knowledge of competitive landscape including SVOD and OTT services

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills at all levels including C-suite

  • Must be self-motivated and accountable

  • Ability to adapt rapidly in a fast-moving environment with shifting priorities and the ability to react quickly, dynamically, and intelligently

  • Must possess excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to understand and engage with technical teams on highly complex projects

  • Comfortable working in an environment that is ever-changing, with grey or uncertain areas; candidate must be able to create their own direction yet balance cross functional teams’ needs

The Ideal Candidate

  • Passionate about television, movies, entertainment, and technology

  • Possesses a deep understanding of the video streaming industry as well as the data-driven personalization space and is a champion for the consumer

  • Comfortable with large data sets, Excel pivot tables, visualization tools like Periscope and Looker, some knowledge of SQL is a plus

  • Executes against a vision via small, medium, and long-term projects

  • Capable of being a doer and longer-term strategic thinker

  • Thrives in a team that believes in working fast, being accountable, and learning from mistakes

  • Comfortable in a small, lean team, that requires you to get in the trenches to drive work forward and have a high output
