A CNN SWAT Electronic Graphics Operator (EGO) plays an integral role as part of the live control room production team with a keen eye for attention to detail and thrives in the fast paced 24x7 news environment while being responsible for ensuring the accuracy of all graphic elements before, during, and after they are inserted on-air.
What sets the position apart, is the CNN SWAT EGO has an adaptable skillset as well as a deeper knowledge of advanced features of all the graphics systems which allows them to train new EGO Operators and cover any schedule across all CNN News Group network platforms.

Recalling, preparing and organizing text and graphics for live and taped telecasts, programs, and/or presentations, and pre-production. Text & graphics include names, locations, and graphics, such as over the shoulder boxes or full-screens.
Proof reading of text information before use. Includes preparation time before show.
Partnering/collaborating with editorial show team members to ensure accuracy of all show graphic elements.
Testing and organizing show graphics, download codes and show descriptions in regard to assigned shows.
Responsible for any scheduled pre-production of said elements for live as well as pre-recorded shows.
Have knowledge of network style guide and maintain an above average spelling ability. Will on occasion make manual updates, so typing skills must remain sharp.
Documentation of on/off air discrepancies as well as reporting of any equipment issues or damage while ensuring all issues are escalated.
Daily reading and updating of Discrepancy Reports to assist in creation of resulting Quality Assurance reports to help facilitate communication of errors with show teams.
Assists Supervisor in evaluating and implementing new workflows and procedures.
Responsible for covering any EGO schedule across all CNN News Group network platforms.
Develop, test and document processes, workflows and Standard Operating Procedures.
Must be a subject matter expert (SME) of the equipment they use and the various network workflows
Support the management team through involvement in projects and network initiatives.
In the absence of department Supervisor, responsible for performing various duties such as schedule modifications.
Will act as a mentor and trainer to all EGO Operators to help further develop their technical skillset.
Demonstrate ability to operate independently through proven leadership skills.
3-5 years of experience in a live news control room environment on any graphics system.
Above average spelling ability and fluency in Windows based applications.
Demonstrated problem solving skills.
Demonstrated leadership, written & communication skills.
Ability and desire to work under pressure and in 24x7 'live news' environment.
Demonstrate an overall positive attitude and ability to work well with others.
Open to and accepting of new technologies as well as the ability to quickly learn those new technologies.
Desirable requirements (not mandatory) include:
Prior experience with Chyron Infinit, VizRT Trio, or comparable CG equipment in a live control room environment.
If applicable, a participant in CNN Technical Operations departmental training program.
Strong multi-tasking skillset.
