What part will you play?


CNN is looking for an experienced Copy Editor & Senior Writer to join its global sponsorship team.

We’re seeking an editor with proven experience across news, sport, health, business, style, and travel. This editor will do a mix of copy editing and writing helping CNN to maintain its high journalistic standards and ensure consistency of voice and tone across all output.

The successful candidate will have a meticulous eye for detail and a passion for first-class writing and storytelling.


What will you be doing?


You will work closely with Commissioning Editor and will oversee the written work of Feature Writers and multi-platform Producers in the Editorial Sponsorship team. They will maintain CNN’s high journalistic standards by fact-checking, editing and writing feature content that is balanced, fair and engaging to a global multi-platform audience. They will be guardians of CNN’s editorial procedures and processes. They will also help to educate other team members in how to write engaging stories, meeting regularly with Campaign Strategy and Delivery Analysts and Programmers to learn and share audience insights that help to deliver on sponsorship KPIs and the wider CNN Digital audience development goals.

The role will also be responsible for ensuring that stories are SEO optimized and built in a way that showcases the best of CNN’s sponsored content. Also, the Copy Editors will be required to work with CNN’s on-air talent to produce and edit written features for CNN’s sponsored portfolio.

This position will collaborate with a cross-functional team across London, Atlanta, New York, Hong Kong, and Abu Dhabi. The candidate must be a self-starter and comfortable working on tight deadlines and be able to switch rapidly between projects in a fast-paced news environment.

The Copy Editor \\ Senior Writer will directly manage a small team of staff writers and freelancers, setting objectives, overseeing their professional development and championing their work.

• Strong background in editing news stories
• Creative ideas for digital storytelling
• Capable of adapting to different styles of writing depending on topic and platform
• Perfect grasp of written and spoken English
• Deep understanding of journalistic standards and media law
• Strong technical capabilities including working on different Content Management Systems and news operating systems.
• Strong management/supervisory experience; capable of having difficult conversations, providing detailed and constructive feedback
