The Job
  • The Research Manager provides oversight for daily Ad Sales requests for CNN, HLN and CNN APN.
  • Manage Analysts and Senior Analysts to include their development, providing coaching and feedback, performance management and providing day to day oversight including directing, assigning and prioritizing work
  • Responsible for designing and implementing Ad Effectiveness and other Primary research studies to support decisions about sales initiatives, products and content for TV and Cross-Platform
  • Will interpret and distill data into an actionable format and provide competitive insights and POV for internal and external purposes.


The Daily
  • Responsible for designing and implementing Ad Effectiveness and other Primary research studies to support decisions about sales initiatives, products and content for TV and Cross-Platform
  • Create category and brand positioning presentations that position CNN positively within the Ad Sales marketplace.
  • Collaborate with marketing team to report and compile one-sheets for our original series, events and media kits.
  • Create and issue consistent reports, trending data, one-sheets, brand decks and dashboards.
  • Utilize all available resources to provide strategic insights to Ad Sales team.
  • Closely monitor and analyze all competitive nets and be aware of changes in industry trends.
  • Sees the big picture in reporting needs and provides feedback for vendors on how to improve their products to meet our research needs
  • Develops methods to better collect, analyze and present data to advance decision-making

The Essentials
  • 5+ years of relevant Ad Sales Research experience required, including TV, cross platform or agency or consumer research
  • Bachelor's degree required with communications, media, marketing or mathematics degree preferred
  • Proficient with Nielsen applications and various syndicated resources
  • Strong understanding of behavioral and primary research data
  • Expertise in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) Pivot tables and macros are a plus
  • Have superior analytic skills and ability to work with and condense big sets of data
