Reporting to the Head of Development, the Senior Development Producer- Unscripted will be responsible for leading and driving television development for the Australian business with a primary focus on the unscripted production slate.

The Senior Development Producer will have a thorough knowledge of the global TV landscape and a strong ability to identify sales opportunities instantly.

Essential job functions
  • Lead development on new unscripted series for the Australian market. Focusing on both adaptations of international formats and original ideas.
  • Research, brainstorm, write treatments and deliver development assets for both original ideas; new or existing Warner Bros. formats; or third-party formats.
  • Ensuring the highest standard of outputs including pitch documents, editorial tender responses, program proposals etc.
  • Weekly reporting on new international formats and liaising with third-party distributors.
  • Leading the researching and writing of detailed development treatments.
  • Working with the casting team to cast experts, hosts, judges, and contributors.
  • Oversee and manage the production and edit of sizzle tapes and video assets.
  • Attend pitch meetings to buyers and clients.
  • Assisting the transition of projects from development into pre-production which includes, but is not limited to, working with production team to oversee providing a schedule and budget for each project.
  • In consultation with the Head of Development, work with Head of Commercial, Production & Operations as well as Head of Finance to agree paid development with broadcasters.
  • Ensure strong relationships with broadcasters by fully understanding the needs of the market.
  • Work closely the WBITVP team to monitor the wider market and secure third-party IP where appropriate.
  • Liaise and report regularly with the WBITVP global team.
  • Regularly research and investigate for new project opportunities and partners.
  • Work closely with the Development Producer to compile all pitch and development assets for senior management team. Including providing clear direction to graphic artists to create style and branding for each project.
  • Create a workplace environment that encourages creative risk-taking that achieves company goals.

Person specification
  • Experienced in unscripted television development or creative role experience, ideally within a large production company in Australia or abroad.
  • Development experience essential including work on local adaptations of international formats and or pre-production on new series for the local market with a focus on prime-time entertainment programming.
  • Expert knowledge of international television format landscape.
  • Proficient creative brainstorming and treatment writing experience.
  • Production management, casting and producing of ‘taster tape’ sizzle shoots.
  • Edit skills in Avid or Final Cut Pro.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with excellent professionalism.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills with the ability to juggle several responsibilities and meet conflicting deadlines.
  • Excellent collaborative style with proven experience dealing with multiple stakeholders and differing priorities.
  • A strong team player who contributes to an environment that embraces constant change and innovation.
  • Pro-active, a self-starter who can work independently; priorities and multi-task; and continuously show initiative to improve practices and processes.
